What to do with that old car

Many people become concerned with the environment and protecting endangered wildlife. If this is the cause a person cares about, they can choose to donate an automobile to help save wildlife, or care for abandoned domestic animals. Victims of natural disasters need vehicles and money, so individuals can donate automobiles to charity organizations that provide help for them. No matter what cause a person takes up, they can receive some benefits. By giving a car, truck, boat, or other vehicle to a charitable organization, the consumer can deduct the fair market value from their income taxes. Of course, the biggest reward when people make donations of any kind and size is the knowledge that they provided assistance to someone who needed it. Donating a vehicle is probably the largest gift many people will ever be able to give to a cause they believe in. Most people don't have the kind of income that will allow them to make such large donations any other way.

My the bible asks us to help; car donation

When people generally think to donate automobiles to charity, it is with the thought that the charity will use the vehicle to transport individuals or supplies, but this is not always the case. Often, when someone chooses to donate an automobile, it is converted to cash for projects and aid for people in need. When this is done, the money from the vehicle might be used to fund tutoring or after school programs for disadvantaged youngsters. Funds when people donate automobiles to charity help provide housing for the homeless, clothes for those in need, and food for a multitude of people. "And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude." (Matthew 14:19)

A nice change of pace in the world!

NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson has awarded nearly US$1 million in education grants to school districts in California, North Carolina and Oklahoma.

Johnson, who wrapped up his record fourth consecutive Cup championship in the Nov. 22 season finale, received more than 80 applications from schools in districts both he and his wife, Chandra, attended, as well as the greater Charlotte area, where they live.

Monday's grants from the Jimmie Johnson Foundation totalled $922,000. The awards included $347,000 toward science and technology needs, $357,000 for outdoor classrooms, playgrounds and athletic facilities and $27,000 for accelerated reading programs.

The Johnsons awarded the California grants at a special ceremony at Crest Elementary, in El Cajon, Calif., a school the driver attended. That school received $45,900 to create hands-on activities in science, technology, health and fitness, the arts, and after school programs.

His other two alma maters also received grants. Greenfield Middle School was awarded $31,572 for a lunch area and equipment, while Granite Hills High School received $31,155 to assist with stadium renovations.
